Animated family fantasy. Curiosity gets the better of Tinker Bell while she is guiding some furry friends to the Winter Wood to hibernate. The frozen paradise is off limits to Pixie Hollow's winged residents, but that doesn't stop her from fluttering on over. Her wings suddenly sparkle, and she befriends Periwinkle the frosty fairy. However, the consequences of Tink's actions soon become apparent as her wander into the wood knocks the seasons out of balance.

Tinker Bell shows her customary curiosity in journeying to the Winter Woods and searching for the answer to her sparkling wings. Her discovery of family leads to complications for the fairy world, and danger for the pixie dust tree.
Despite the name change, this movie follows the lead of the others by promoting a season of the year. In Secret Of The Wings, Tinker Bell experiences the fairy preparation for winter, where the tinker fairies construct baskets that will assist owls from the Winter Woods to carry new snowflakes. When she accompanies a fairy to the bridge between the warm world and winter, she is disappointed to find out that warm fairies are not allowed to cross over to the cold domain. This is a long-standing rule enforced by Lord Milori of the Winter Woods. However, Tinker Bell is only informed of this is after she jumps across the bridge and is astonished to see her wings begin to sparkle. She is dragged back to the warm side, but she is unable to forget the sparkling effect, certain that it has an important meaning.
When a friend explains to Tinker Bell that crossing the bridge from either side is forbidden, the mischievous little lady decides to flaunt the rules (again) and take a brief excursion to the snowy forest. Although she is hastily retrieved a few seconds later by her startled comrades, her short trip to the Winter Woods is not as insignificant to Tinker Bell as it may appear to her companions. Feeling an instant rapport to the unknown land, the tiny imp is also encouraged by an inexplicable sparkling of her wings that began the instant she set foot on the frozen ground.
Violence:Fairy wings are damaged by both cold and warm temperatures. Cold weather threatens to destroy Pixie Hollow. Fairies plummet from a cliff, but are rescued. Some slapstick humour, as well as mild teasing are depicted.

Secret of the Wings (also known as Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings) is a 3D computer-animated comedy film, based on the Disney Fairies franchise, produced by Disneytoon Studios. It revolves around Tinker Bell, a fairy character created by J. M. Barrie in his play, Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, and featured in subsequent adaptations. Secret of the Wings is the fourth movie in this series of direct-to-DVD films and was released on October 23, 2012. In the film, Tinkerbell ventures into the forbidden world and discovers a secret. Starring the voices of Mae Whitman, Lucy Liu, Megan Hilty, Raven-Symoné and Angela Bartys, it also features new cast members who include Matt Lanter, Timothy Dalton, Lucy Hale and Debby Ryan.
Tinkers' Nook is bustling with activity as the tinker fairies are making snowflake baskets for the fairies of winter. A flock of snowy owls soon arrived for the baskets, bringing a final shipment order for Fairy Mary (Jane Horrocks) with them. "Goodness," Fairy Mary said. "They need twenty more baskets for tomorrow's pickup!" The snowy owls must take the baskets to the winter woods as the warm fairies wings can not stand the cold. Tink (Mae Whitman) watched as the magnificent birds headed off toward the Winter Woods. "There's a whole other world over there," she said to herself.
Later that day, Tink volunteered to help her friend Fawn (Angela Bartys) take animals to the Winter Woods to hibernate. But Fawn told Tink that they could only bring animals to the border, and weren't allowed to go into the Winter Woods. Then she got disracted by a sleeping marmot. "No hibernating yet!" she called into the animal's ear. "You do that in winter!" Even though she knew it could be dangerous, Tink enters the Winter Woods. Tink gazed in wonder at the beautiful wintry landscape, enchanted by the delicate snowflakes that drifted down all around her. Suddenly, her wings began to sparkle in a burst of colorful light, and she heard the faint sound of a baby's laugh. The magical moment ended when Fawn yanked Tinker Bell back into autumn. Fawn touched Tink's wings and gasped saying that they were freezing!
