You can create video content by Recording a new session using Panopto recorder application, the Panopto Capture web-based recorder, and you can also upload your own videos.

Alternative tip: If you are using a document camera or a webcam serving as a document camera, you can choose to display it within proprietary software that enables zooming, panning and focus features. Instead of selecting the document camera as a secondary source, display the camera inside the software on the desktop (which is probably routed to Secondary 1). Your camera should have its own free, proprietary software that you can download and install from the company's website.

The first graph listed on the Session Analytics page is Views and Downloads by Day. This graph shows Views and Downloads (number of views and downloads of just this video), Unique Viewers (number of unique people who have accessed this video), and Minutes Delivered (number of minutes streamed and downloaded combined) for this particular video session.

In Zoom, if you are recording to the cloud, you will need to download the recording to your local computer from your Zoom recordings page and then upload it to your Panopto course folder. To bypass the first step, you can choose the Record on this Computer option in Zoom.

Panopto's desktop software gives you the ability to record lectures and events directly from your Mac or PC computer where ever you may be, even without access to a network. You simply run the Panopto recorder while your class or event is taking place or use the software to create supplemental instruction. You then can manually or automatically upload this recording to Duke's Panopto server (duke.hosted.panopto.com). Note: Panopto cannot be used to record, store, or distribute any media that must comply with HIPAA requirements. For information about FERPA requirements as pertains to recording at Duke, consult . Panopto is also not suitable for users under age 16.

Panopto Training is available beginning December 2021. Please register for upcoming Panopto trainings. In addition to the scheduled events below, training for departments or programs can be requested via ServiceNow or by emailing d2l@wcupa.edu. Distance education faculty are encouraged to contact their instructional designer to discuss Panopto's impact on their course videos.

WCU IS&T continuously evaluates its instructional technologies to effectively meet the emerging and continuing needs of students, faculty, and staff. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the sudden shift to alternate modes of instruction, the University saw a significant rise in videos being created and stored. As a result, IS&T conducted an analysis of the existing video management platform, Kaltura, and this analysis found that Kaltura failed to scale on the level needed by the University and lacked many of the features necessary to effectively create and manage videos in an online environment. As such, the campus sought a new platform which would offer desired features such as a user-friendly interface, advanced searchability, security, enhanced accessibility, options for video interactivity and engagement, and integrations with other instructional technologies such as Zoom and D2L.

Kaltura videos that have been played in the last two years will be automatically migrated to Panopto. It will be the responsibility of the instructor to replace any Kaltura videos and/or embed code with the corresponding Panopto videos in their D2L courses.

Panopto will automatically convert and migrate Kaltura videos viewed since August 1, 2019 and owned by faculty and staff. Content owners are responsible for updating links and/or embed codes within courses, websites, or materials. These will not automatically be updated.

Yes, if the video was captioned in Kaltura, then the edited Kaltura caption file will be migrated to Panopto. Regardless, all new videos in Panopto will be automatically machine captioned. To edit your video captions in Panopto, please refer to this help article: Panopto: Edit Video Captions (KB0011207).

Yes, but some of your videos may be duplicated. Videos with a view date since August 1, 2019 will be automatically migrated to Panopto. Duplicate videos should be removed to avoid confusion.

Students can manage their own video content and use the notes feature and other Panopto viewer tools to interact with course-related videos.Faculty members can use Panopto to capture, edit, and manage video content. Instructors can make their videos more engaging by inserting in-video quizzes and external web content. Panopto is also the storage platform that instructors will use to make class Zoom recordings and other instructional videos available to students via Sakai and Canvas.

Orienting Students to PanoptoStudents should download the quick reference Student Guide to Using Panopto to learn more about Panopto and its student engagement tools. There is also a student section in the Panopto FAQs.

Thanks! One of our techs performed some basic testing on his macOS 12 machine, which worked; however he did note: "One thing I found interesting is that downloading from uni.hosted.panopto.com, it says "For macOS 10.14 and up", while the page you linked above specifically states that 10.14 is no longer supported."

By default, Panopto only allows faculty to upload videos to their course for streaming in Pilot. If you assign video projects to students and would like them to upload to Panopto, you may create an Assignment Folder.

By default, the Assignment Folder privacy settings allow the faculty member to see all submitted videos and the student to only see his or her uploaded video. For example, if your class has 20 students, the instructor will see 20 videos in the folder, but the individual student will see his or her one video submission only. These settings can be changed in the Folder Settings of the Assignment Folder if you would like for students to see video submissions from the entire class.

If a student tries to play a Panopto video in Pilot and the video frame displays the Pilot homepage instead of the video, the student probably has a Safari security feature enabled. Switching to Chrome or Firefox should work for all videos in Pilot, but the Safari security setting can also be disabled easily.

Click "Safari" from the top menu bar and choose "Preferences" from the dropdown submenu (step 1). In the Preferences menu, select the "Privacy" tab (step 2), and un-check "Prevent cross-site tracking" (step 3). You may need to close it and refresh the browser, but the videos should visible with the updated Safari setting.

On this page you can find an overview over what possibilities exist in Panopto, how to get started with Panopto, and some of the most used available functions. If you have not used Panopto before, the button below will take you directly to NTNU's Panopto home page, where you also can download the desktop application Panopto for Windows/Mac, or get straight to work with Panopto Capture, the browser version (More about these under "Recording"). Choose "Sign in" in the upper right corner, and logg in with NTU FEIDE to make a user.

UICapture (Panopto) is the video recording and streaming platform for creating and sharing media with students. It is integrated into ICON and can be accessed via the Course Navigation in every ICON course site. Users can create recordings directly in the web browser or using the recorder software (Panopto Recorder.) See links below for tutorials on how to create videos with UICapture.

If you have already downloaded Panopto previously, proceed to step 4. If you use a guest eLearning account (not ArgoNet credentials), you MUST close out of the Panopto program after installation is complete before proceeding to step 4.

Please note: After the Panopto application has been downloaded, only users who access eLearning via an ArgoNet account will be able to authenticate directly within the desktop application. All users who use a native eLearning account (e.g., ELAs, ATechs, Continuing Education) must follow the steps above each time to create recordings.
